Intimacy Directors International UK (formally Theatrical Intimacy) was founded by Elizabeth Talbot and is a network of Intimacy Directors and Intimacy Coordinators. We are the UK branch of Intimacy Directors International form USA (work includes HBO, Netflix, Amazon and live performance).

We support the growing necessity for intimacy direction / coordination in our industry as well as offer professional training to the performing arts and media community.

INTIMACY is defined as any moment which portrays:

1. intimate physical contact - this may include, but not restricted to:

Kissing and intimate touch

Creating chemistry and attraction  

Intimacy between parents and children

Intimacy between friends 

Portrayal of sexual actions

Portrayal of traumatic events which involve intimacy

Portrayal of sexual violence *

2. Non-contact based Intimacy - can include moments of tension between characters, attraction, chemistry or intimacy where no contact exists such as nudity.

We contribute to productions by not only creating choreography which serves the story but also by facilitating a safe environment for both performers, creatives and technical teams. Our Intimacy Directors / Coordinators are professional practitioners, some work also as Fight Directors, Movement Directors, Directors, Performers and Acting Coaches.
